The default language for ForkTex backends, standardised on 3.14 across the ecosystem.
A general-purpose language with a large standard library, known for readable syntax and a deep scientific and web ecosystem. Its type annotations are optional and checked by external tools, not by the interpreter.
How we use it
Every ForkTex backend is written in it, and every one is type-checked strictly: the annotations are treated as a contract, not documentation. The shared substrate library, the deployment platform, the workflow engine and the document generator are all Python.
