Agricultural operations run on field data captured in poor conditions and reported into government systems with unforgiving formats. The software has to work offline, tolerate correction after the fact, and produce documents an authority will accept.
Agricultural software works with measurements taken in conditions nobody controls, by people whose main job is not data entry. Photographs, handwriting and intermittent connectivity are the normal input, so the system has to be tolerant at the edge and strict at the core.
What we have built here
On a livestock assessment platform we learned to validate at the boundary and never in the middle: a record that entered the system unvalidated poisons every aggregate computed from it afterwards. The client gained assessments that could be compared across seasons because the shape of a record stopped drifting.
